VIOLENT LANGUAGE BREEDS INSECURITY

Using of violent language has gradually eaten up in the Ghanaian culture and making it as a norm.
These provoke words invariably breeds violence and causes insecurity in the country.
A Lecturer at the Kofi Annan Peace Keeping Training Center, Dr. Kwesi Ennin raised these concerns in wake of recent sporadic shooting in Bawku which claimed three lives on Edwaso Nsem with Ekourba Gyasi this morning.
He explained that the media have a role to play in ensuring stability in the country by using accurate headlines to sell their dailies.
Dr. Kwesi Ennin said he believes ‘bad news sells, but there should be a thin line between the positive motive and the grander desire for national security, stability and national development’.
He therefore called for responsible journalism in the country.
