The Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit of the Ghana Police Service, ACP Julius Avorga has cautioned motorist to adhere to road traffic regulations to ensure safety on our roads.
He explained that some motorists are fond of disobeying traffic rules and these are some of the reasons why there is always carnage on our roads.
The MTTU Commander continued that as a result of this the MTTU will ensure strict adherence of traffic regulation and prosecute any traffic offender without hesitation.
ACP Avorga made these remarks in wake of Speaker of Parliament car that was involved in a motor accident when she was on her way to Parliament yesterday.
The NDC MP for New Edubiase, Ernest Kofi Yakah is said to have crashed his car to that of Madam Joyce Bampoe Addo’s car.
ACP Avorga therefore explained what motorist should do when they hear siren on the road.
CUE IN: AVORGA – DON’T JOIN CONVOY
Some Members of Parliament have argued that the convoy of the Speaker was not long that is why the accident occurred.
ACP Avorga debunked the notion that siren laws should be adhere to no matter how short or long the convoy is.
He noted female drivers are fond culpable for not adhering to siren laws and always receive calls when they hear siren.
