26 ARRESTED IN AVENOR BLOODY CLASH

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested 26 people in connection with their alleged involvement in the Avenor bloody clash that occurred yesterday.
The suspects are currently in Police custody pending further investigations.
The Commander of the Greater Accra, DCOP Rose Bio Atinga in an interview with Ekourba Gyasi this morning on Edwaso Nsem said the police found guns, machete and other offensive weapons in their possession when they were arrested.
It is alleged that the claimants of the land, World Miracle Church International (WMCI) took the land guards to the land to protect the church while working on the land.
DCOP Bio Atinga said there is no legal term in the laws of the country that qualify people to be land guards, so anyone who is found culpable of the act will face the full rigors of the land.
CUE IN: ATINBB – AVENOR CLASH
It will be recalled that in the early hours of yesterday, there was a clash between some residents at Avenor and a group of people who claimed to be laborers hired to work for WMCI on a parcel of land at Avenor in Accra that led to the death of one person.
The court had earlier ruled that the land is for WMCI which they had used police protection to eject squatters on the land.
Responding to allegation that the church hired land guards to the said land, an Associate Pastor of WMCI at Circle branch, Rev. Sammy Owusu Nsiah debunked the notion and explained that the land has been legally acquired by the church, and so the laborers went on the land to work not to cause mayhem.
