As part of measures to control fire outbreaks in the country, the Ghana National Fire Service has embarked on fire safety campaign to educate the public on fire safety tit-bits.
The Fire safety Campaign Unit in the Service from time to visits market centers to educate market women on fire safety and also corporate institutions.
In an interview with the Public Relations Officer for Fire Service, Divisional Officer Timothy Osafo Afum with Adom Kasiebo this morning, he noted that what is disturbing about the training seminar is that the intended purpose is not often achieved, because the target people do not show up for such training.
As a result of that, Mr. Osafo Afum explained that the people involved in fire fighting do not get needed skills in combating fire outbreak.
In recent times, there have being reports of fire outbreaks in the country with the latest in Tema Community Mante-Din area.
The Fire Service PRO stated that Assemblies have a role to play in fighting, because in certain areas, shops have been built on fire hydrants with the permission of these assemblies.
Mr. Osafo Afum therefore called on the assemblies to help the service to relocate people building on fire hydrants.
