The government has denied media publication that one laptop per child policy instituted by the erstwhile NPP administration has been scraped.
The NPP administration introduced one computer per child as the former Finance Minister; the late Baah-Wiredu was the pillar behind this novelty in the country.
Speaking to Adom Kasiebo this morning about media publication on the front page of today’s edition of ‘The Statesman’, the Deputy Minister for Information, Samuel Okudzato-Ablakwa denied the claims of the paper and said the publication is full of conjecture.
Mr. Okudzato-Ablakwa disclosed that the computers for the project are available and the only thing left is to select the school that will be used as a starting point.
He noted that deliberation on the mode of selecting the program is ongoing and hope by the end of the week, stakeholders can give definite start off date.
Deputy Information Minster noted that premium will be given to schools in the deprived areas with tables and chairs available in these schools as well as electricity.
Mr. Okudzato-Ablakwa spoke to Akuamoah Boateng.
